Mixing and serving tips for Bio-Heal/Pro+Updated 20 hours ago
We hear from families every day with different experiences—some children don't notice the powder at all, while others require more creative serving methods. Here are tried-and-true tips from our team and customers to help you find what works best!
Important Guidelines
Temperature matters! Bio-Heal is sensitive to heat and should only be mixed into room temperature or cold foods and beverages.
Safe to use: Cold or room temperature foods/drinks
Avoid: Hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soups, oatmeal, or any hot beverages/foods
Why not plain water? The powder is more visible in clear liquids. It disguises better in juice, smoothies, or foods like applesauce, yogurt, or cereal.
Popular Mixing Methods
Cold Beverages:
- Smoothies - Berries, ice cubes, and almond milk work great

- Sports drinks - Zero sugar Gatorade or PoweradeJuice - Orange juice, apple juice, or any favorite flavor (4 oz or less is plenty!)
- Chocolate milk - The flavor masks it well
- Flavored milk alternatives - Vanilla almond milk, chocolate oat milk
- Iced tea or lemonade - Sweet flavors help disguise
- Protein shakes - If your child already drinks these
Pro tip: Use an opaque cup with a lid and straw to help mask smell and visibility—this has been a game-changer for smell-sensitive kids!
Dairy Products (consume within 5-10 minutes):
- Yogurt - Regular, Greek, or dairy-free alternatives
- Yogurt smoothies - 4 oz yogurt smoothie works perfectly
- Pudding - Chocolate or vanilla
- Ice cream or frozen yogurt
- Cottage cheese - Mix into flavored varieties
- Kefir - Drinkable yogurt option
Important: When mixing with dairy (milk, yogurt), serve within 5-10 minutes to prevent clumping or thickening.
Mixing into Foods
- Applesauce - Classic and effective

- Peanut butter or almond butter - Mix well, then make sandwiches
- Jelly or jam - Spread on toast
- Pasta sauce or marinara
- Ketchup - For dipping chicken nuggets, fries, etc.
- Parmesan cheese - Mix powder in, sprinkle over pasta
- Mashed potatoes (once cooled to room temp)
- Guacamole or hummus - For dipping

Creative Delivery Methods
Syringe method: Mix ½ scoop (about ¼ teaspoon) into 20 ml of orange juice or other strong-flavored juice. Load into an oral syringe and administer like liquid medicine. Great for very resistant kids!
Divided doses: Split the daily serving across 2-3 meals in smaller amounts—easier to disguise and less noticeable.
Straw packets: Mix into a small juice box or pouch with a straw for on-the-go serving.
Squeezable pouches: Mix into reusable food pouches with applesauce or smoothies—fun and easy for kids to self-administer.
Mixing Tools & Techniques
Best tools:
- Handheld battery-powered milk frother (~$10 on Amazon) - Dissolves powder with no clumps! Customer favorite!
- Blender or Ninja Bullet - Perfect for smoothies
- Shaker bottle - For drinks on the go
- Small whisk - For manual mixing
Technique tips
Add powder slowly - Sprinkle it in gradually while stirring
Add to liquid first - Never add liquid on top of powder
Use less liquid - 4 oz or less makes it easier to finish quickly
Don't dump the entire scoop at once - This causes clumping
Don't add liquid on top of powder - Always add powder to liquid

Finding What Works:
Remember: Kids' taste preferences change frequently! What works today might not work next week, so don't be afraid to rotate methods. Many families keep 2-3 backup options ready.
Start simple: Begin with the easiest method (like juice or yogurt) and get more creative only if needed.
Be patient: It may take a few tries to find your child's preferred method.
